STANDARD LUXURY SAFARI TOUR PACKAGE

Day 1: Leave Diani/Mombasa for Amboseli

In the first day at 7:00am, you leave Mombasa and ride on SGR Train to Emali. Arriving there at 11:00am. From Emali you drive to the second most popular National Parks in Kenya; Amboseli National Park. The distance between Emali and Amboseli is 133km (2 hours drive).  You get to Amboseli at 1:00pm. You check-in at the lodge/camp for lunch and resting waiting an afternoon game viewing drives at 3:00pm.  You will have afternoon game drives till late afternoon at 6:30 pm then proceed back to the lodge or camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Amboseli is a Masai word for ‘salty dust”. This is because during the dry season, lake Amboseli dries up and when it’s windy the dust tastes salty! The national park, covering approximately 390sq. km of swampy area boasts the largest elephant herds as they roam between the swamps and the foot of Africa’s highest mountain! Other physical attractions include lake Amboseli, the Observation Hill which allows a panoramic view of the better part of this park overlooking Enkongo Narok swamp with its schools of hippos as well as herds of Elephants! For the avid ornithologists, this swamp does not disappoint with its prolific avifauna. Other animals include; buffaloes, hippos and a variety of water fowls like pelican, Egyptian goose, jacana. You equally have a chance of spotting leopard, cheetah, wild dogs, giraffe, zebra, lion, mongoose, hyrax, dik- dik, lesser kudu, and nocturnal porcupine.

Day 2: Amboseli National Park- Tsavo East National Park.

Early morning breakfast before leaving Amboseli National Park  with game drive en rout to Tsavo East National Park.  4 hours drive approximately to Tsavo East Arriving in time for lunch. After lunch then relax up to 1600hrs for afternoon game viewing drive then proceed back to the lodge or camp for dinner and overnight stay.

‘Tsavo East, covering an area of 13474 sq. km is famous for some of the largest herds of elephants in Kenya. The elephants seem to have a red colour, just like many other animals in the park, which is caused by the red dust which they spray on themselves against insects or parasites.

The lions of Tsavo owe their fame to the book and movie “The Man-eaters of Tsavo”. Here a few lions ate several railroad workers during early 20th century. The lions were later shot dead. It seems the reason they attacked people was because of their bad teeth, which made it difficult for them to chew buffalo or gazelle meat.’
